Why doesn't my XBOX work with my new 4-way distribution amplifier?
Below is a diagram of the way I have my entertainment system set up.
CABLE TV-CHANNELS run directly into VCR
VCR connected directly to TV, XBOX, and 4-WAY
4-WAY ports contain
1.Surround Sound Ssytem
2.Wireless Headset
3.DVD
4. *empty port*
OK, here is my problem, I tried connecting my xbox into the fourth port on the 4-way. When I tested it nothing worked, no audio or video. So I connected my XBOX directly to my VCR and everything is fine. All the ports work on the 4-way, so it's not a defective unit. Any idea on how to get my XBOX to work using the empty port? Or any idea on how to run a better configuration with the machines I have?
Thanks for any help
I don't think I'm understanding you completely..
on the 4way ports 1 & 2 seem like outputs but 3 (DVD) is an input?
I guess I'm not clear on the ins and outs..
cable (OUT) to vcr (IN)
vcr (OUT) to television (IN) & 4way (IN)
4way (OUT) to sound system (IN), headset (IN) & DVD(??)
Does your 4way take one input and turn it to 4 outputs? If this is correct then hooking the xbox up to an output won't be sending the signal to the television.. and I don't see how the DVD is working? unless there are multiple inputs and outputs on the distribution amp..
Please post an update with more information about the 4way amp (like the model number) and the labels on the various ports you are using.. (I'll check back and update my answer)
