What is the best music creation software...?
I'd prefer it to be free, but all suggestions welcome. Uhmm so basically what I want is somthing that isn't too confusing technically, somthing that has some kind of snap grid to keep things in time, somthing that will let me record my guitar through my soundcard live, and somthing that I can add virtual instruments with, like drum machine and bass notes, synth? and maybe some sound clips? Basically so I can be a one man band. I tried fruity loops used by Bass Hunter but it's a bit confusing and club music based. Any one have any ideas? The only one I know is reason but it's a big peice of software, etc? Smaller and simpler the better.

Try REAPER, it's not very expensive for non-commercial use.
