How does a condenser mic help record screaming?
i keep hearing that if your gonna record screaming, use a condenser microphone? how does that help? what does it do??
A condenser mic will have a better high frequency response, less proximity effect, and a flatter response curve.
As long as the singer (excuse me, screamer) doesn't cup the mic with his hands, it would work.
However, whenever I have to record a "screamer", I hand them either an SM57 or SM58. I use one of these mics because:
- They're cheap
- They're going to be full of spit when the session is over
- The guys I've recorded...a better quality mic wouldn't have helped.
