Can a shotgun mic be used for...?
Hey, I was wondering if I should use a shotgun mic for picking up sounds at a distance for skits a couple of friends and I are doing. They are mainly going to be quite a few yards away; and we'll be skits in public to get public reactions. Since they are a while away; I was thinking that the directional Shotgun mic should be able to pick up noise from me and people close to me no problem; but we are mainly focused on getting public reactions so we also need it so we can hear what other people in a close to medium proximity of me (not the camera) are saying.
Only example I have on the top of my head is Mega64; but we aren't based off video games.
Any help or suggestions? I was thinking of getting http://cgi.ebay.com/14-37-Shotgun-Microphone-Condenser-Mic-for-DV-Camcorder_W0QQitemZ320504917044QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_0?hash=item4a9f94ec34
If the people are less than about 10 feet away, then a shotgun mic will work. If they are further then that, it would probably be better to use a wireless clip on mic on one of your friends closest to the people getting the reaction - better yet, maybe a parabolic mic...
