How can I improve my condenser microphone quality?
My $200 condenser microphone compared to my friends TEN DOLLAR karaoke microphone sounds like crap. So I'm going to tell you my set up and maybe you can tell me how to get better quality?
My condenser microphone is connected from the phantom power to a XLR adapter cable that's connected directly to my computer, the adapter cable is 50 feet long. I have a 30 dollar sound card. Any help?
should I get a preamp?
Hi. I would bet that your friend's mike is noise canceling. These mikes take signals from the back and remove them. You may need to put a block of foam on yours in back of the mike to minimize noise pickup. Or record in a sound damped room. (Or get a $10 computer mike!) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Noise-canceling_microphone
