Recording vinyl through audio interface?
Hi, i'm planning on buying a turntable and when i have it i'd like to record my vinyl onto my computer so that i can put them on my iPod. I don't have an audio interface yet either but plan on getting one. My question is, how would i go about recording my records using my audio interface. What connection would i need to go from my record player to my audio interface. The only thing i do know is that a firewire connection would go from my audio interface to my computer. Thanks.
TV Guy, the reason i'm buying vinyl is because the are some EPs that i want to buy which are only available on vinyl. I want to put record them on my computer and put them on my iPod so i can listen to them while i'm out. When i'm at home, i'm gonna listen to them on vinyl obviously.
I also produce tracks and use samples from records now and again so i need it for that too.
Thanks for your help.
Buying vinyl and recording MP3s defeats the whole purpose of buying vynil. You might as well download the song from itunes. It will be cheaper...
Using a turntable requires an amplifier. It should have an audio out which you can use to capture audio using your PCs audio card. You just need a stereo RCA to 3.5 mm audio cable.
