They are from the US poatal commemorative society and also come with a cencelled stamp from the year the coin was minted. I have several coins, and they date all the way back to the 1880s..to the 1930s..and i have several yrs in between. i dont trust a coin shop to tell me the truth, and I have tried coin books, but I dont know exactly what the heck to look for . I also have a big Ben Franklin 50 piece collection..those are dated from the 1950s..help
Your going to have to trust a coin shop or a couple of them. I had this set come into my shop a couple of years ago - the coins ranged from very poor for the more valuable ones to very nice for the more common ones and someone has to make the decision as to what they are if you are not nor want to become experienced enough to do it. They will look at what it is, when it was minted, what mint was it made in and what the grade of the coin is. Then they will look at a chart for the value of the coin. If they buy the coin(s), they will usually offer around 65% of the value for each coin. They can do the same thing with the Ben Franklin coin collection. Don't expect much of anything for the stamps as they were just a gimmick to sell the coins and they usually used poor condition coins.
