What American City has the best Musical Heritage?
As far as cultural impact, many could apply (New Orleans, LA, NY, Chicago, Clarksdale, Memphis, Philadelphia, Nashville, Seattle, Atlanta, etc).
My opinion is Detroit. Native examples being: Son House, John Lee Hooker, Dave Brubek, Smokey Robinson, Marvin Gaye, Aretha Franklin, Diana Ross and The Supremes, Berry Gordy, Bob Segar, The Temptations, The Four Tops, Stevie Wonder, Ted Nugent, MC5, The Stooges, Iggy Pop, Aaliyah, Eminem, D12, Kid Rock, The White Stripes, The Raconteurs, and Techno Music (which was invented in Detroit).
I think the only City that comes close is Seattle, with Hendrix, and the grunge factory.
I think Detroit and New York. Basically the East Coast.
