what is wrong with my desk top computer?

ok it is a gateway Pentium 4 processor i know oldish but i still like it allot and one day i tried to turn it on and to boots up no problem the gateway logo comes up and everything but then th screen goes lack then glows like a dark blue color like the monitor is trying to work but it wont show anything it doesn't load the xp thing or anything i can get into the bios ad everything that shows up but nothing after that logo then it goes black.... what is wrong everything is hooked up correct i am really good with computers so im not stupid i know how to hook it up

Faulty monitors or faulty dying parts. Faulty parts are often the video card, motherboard and CPU. It could also be your hard drive because it checks CPU, video card, then hard drive. If you have a spare hard drive, put that in and it should work fine. If it doesn't work, go down checking CPU and RAM because if you can see bios, the motherboard is not it, and you can see the Gateway logo, so it's not your video card.
