Can a harmonica microphone be used as a vocal microphone?
I need a good mic for performing live. I have a pretty deep voice but sometimes it doesn't cut through the rest of the band and gets lost.
A friend of mine told me that a harmonica mic would be good to remedy this, but I can't find any information online to back up this claim.
Can anyone validate this or at least recommend a good mic?

Yes you can use one, and it will sound like crap. You need a vocal mic for vocals. Harmonica mics are used at extremely close range, have huge drop-off with distance and a narrow frequency range.
Pick up a Shure SM-58, Audio Technica PRO 41, or AKG D770 for a good, rugged dynamic hand-held mic for stage use. If you're doing more subtle work, get a condenser mic, leave it on the stand, and step back a foot or two.
... Use your voice to articulate and project, don't rely on the "sound guy". Mumbling into a microphone and amplifying it is still mumbling. Ain't nobody going to understand you.
