How long does it take via train from Galway to Dublin? ?
I am traveling to Europe this summer. I am thinking of flying into Limerick or Galway to Dublin. Then from Dublin to England. I am only spending 5 days in Ireland. I plan on hitting 1 or 2 cities/ towns, then spending a few days around Dublin, but I am unsure of the travel time. Any advice/suggestions?
There are regular buses and trains that go from Galway to Dublin. Train travel takes about 2 1/2 to 3 hours, whereas bus travel takes 3 1/2 to 4 hours.
You can purchase train ticket 28 days in advance and it can be as low as €15 one way for adult (web offer price).
As for the bus (with Bus Eireann), the ticket is €13.50 one way for adult, €12.70 if you have a valid student card. There's a bus nearly every hour so it's very convenient, and travel time is expected to be near 4 hours.
If you take CityLink buses, it's a bit more expensive at €15 (€14 student price). There's also a bus pretty much every hour, and as it make less stops than Bus Eireann, you could cut down travel time by about 30 mins.
