Living in Japan?
Not to imply the Japanese as being anything along the line as racist or anything. I'm just wondering if anyone knows their views on foreign people, (as I'd be a foreigner visiting Japan), I've read generalisations but I wonder if the Japanese have negative views specifically on certain races like I know the Chinese can do (I'm chinese). So are people i.e. black, indian, generally dark skinned people discriminated againsts moreso than a white person would?
If possible I'd appreciate feedback from someone from the questioned origin to help my boyfriend on his query. ^^~
Once again I apologise if I seem to label anyone as being racist.
I'd like to also note as reference from my first reply that I'm not naive to think that just watching anime in my leisurely time makes me think Japan is totally brilliant. It was a normal question I wanted to ask in relation to reservations about the place.
Japanese are friendly towards tourists and much more xenophobic towards foreigners who try to live there. However, since you are Chinese, I can't comment so much because you might be mistaken for Japanese and so they might act differently until they hear you speak. (Japanese can be mean towards other Japanese who they think are ignorant or stupid.) Lately there's a lot more tourists from China and Korea, but much more from Korea. I noticed signs in Korean but not as many in Chinese when visiting tourist spots 2 years ago. Of course, English for tourists is most likely.
