What's the best way to control a lamp's brightness with audio?
I want to have a few little lamps, maybe the fake candles, on stage while a band is playing live. What's the best way to do that? I've seen some circuit diagrams and designs but nothing that makes sense enough to try. I saw it done at a Sigur Ros concert, and it was amazing. There were a few small lamps on a piano, and when it was played the lights brightened, dimmed, and flickered based on how it was played.
I am a smart person and can figure most things out, but I have never really gotten into circuits and such. I'd be willing to try, though.
Thanks,
.ian
This is a simple circuit widely used in later 1970 when SCR was invented. Taking part of audio output signal from the speaker, using different value of capacitors to get high AF,middle AF and bass
AF. Using these AF signal to trigger the gate of SCR (nowaday you may use triac). Feed 115 volts AC passing the lamps, then the anode of SCR. Neutral connects directly to cathod. Now the lights will dance with music.
