I love "Northern Exposure"... watching DVDs and feeling fine?
Just had to put that out there. I mean, where else do you hear:
"There's a dark side to each and every human soul. We wish we were Obi-Wan Kenobi, and for the most part we are, but there's a little Darth Vader in all of us. Thing is, this ain't no either-or proposition. We're talking about dialectics, the good and the bad merging into us. You can run but you can't hide. My experience? Face the darkness. Stare it down. Own it. As brother Nietzsche said, being human is a complicated gig. So give that ol' dark night of the soul a hug. Howl the eternal yes!" (Chris Stevens)
I only have 3 TV shows I ever followed...NX, Black Adder, Red Dwarf (last two are BritComs).
I HATE modern TV...so bland, so plastic.
This was one of the best weekly shows on TV. I use to watch it on Sunday nights and my mom turned me on to Northern Exposure. I only watch downloads from my son's computer when he and I are able to sit together...and they are "American Dad" or "Family Guy". Yeah, they are funny but their is no depth or richness, just sarcasm, criticism and so on....I hate TV as a matter of fact and just getting where I can pick up a movie and sit through the whole thing.
Julia, I realized the other day how movies and TV shape who we are. Even I have been a victim to "the happy ending" and on the screen life seems okay, but in real life it isn't like that. What an eye opener and I didn't like the feeling because what I related in life what I wanted or expected was so related to the screen. It isn't good or bad, but too much is not good and we don't realize how much it shapes us.
The reality is it is not real!
Bye the way, I visited Roselyn, Washington in 2006. I was able to see the whole town where they filmed Northern Exposure!
Peace and thank you for the reminder....going to find some DVD's!
