Why does my shure sm58 microphone shock me when I sing while playing electric guitar? and how do I stop it?
The microphone shocks me whether I use XLR male to female or XLR to 1/4 inch standard cable. (like a guitar cable) I get shocked, literally, when hooked up to the PA at my work, or my drummer's cube speakers for his electric drum set, but when the microphone is plugged into a guitar amplifier, I do not get shocked. So, why do I get shocked, and how can I fix it? Thanks
You're not grounded properly. First make sure your guitar cord is not touching your mic stand or mic cord, or any other cords or power sources. If this doesn't fix it you're running too hot on your mic or guitar. Could be your PA system has a short as well.
