1/4" to RCA Snake cable?
Im in the process of building an electronic drumset and I want to ask this question first before i purchase the cords. The drum parts ive created (snare, cymbal, etc.) are all built with RCA outlets that go to a drum module that has 1/4" outlets. Radioshack sells the mono 1/4 male plug to RCA for $6 each. I need about 8 cords for each drum piece therefore spending at least $48 just for cords. Ive searched on online and came across 1/4 to rca 8-channel snake cords for only $15 ( and its alot longer compared to radioshacks 3ft. cords). But the thing is would I beable to basically split the snake cable into individual cords to stretch to each piece??? If you know tell me cuz itll save me $$$ thanks
Snake cables usually don't have full protective outer insulation over each individual core within the main part of the cable. The maker of the snake will use heat shrink insulation past the breakout point. If you split the cable you may have to provide additional protection. You still might come out ahead if you can find similar snakes with fewer cores and just use 2 or 3 of them.
