Audio-Technica ATR55 mic for my camera?
Audio-Technica ATR55 is the only shotgun mic that I can afford I think, and It's the only one that's compatible(from what I heard) with my camera(hdrsr11) since I can't afford better mics. Will I still get a bit of that strange noise after I plug it into my mic jack?
The ATR-55 is a prettylow cost mic, the problem with the mic socket buzzing is likely because the mic is a mono unit going into a stereo socket. One channel (usually the left) will probably have a clean recording the other channel will have only hum, you will need to strip off one channel in the edit and pan the other so it is linear stereo.
The ATR-55 uses a standard 3.5mm minijack, as do mics like the Sennheiser MKE300, 300D, 400D, but these are more expensive.
Rode do a budget video mic at around £100 which is pretty good, but pretty bulky, and it is double the cost of the ATR-55.
The ATR-55 is certainly the best for the money, but there are better.
