How to hook up a Vaio NR series laptop to a tv?
Does anyone know how to hook up a Sony Vaio NR series laptop to a tv?
I'm going to buy Sony Location Free so when I move to Europe I can watch American tv. I don't mind watching it on my laptop but I'd really like to hook it up to a tv. When I was in school the teachers always had the computers hooked up to the tvs and it always looked fairly simple but of course those were PCs.
Anyway I saw a few how to videos but I noticed other laptops have way more ports. My Sony only has 4 (Monitor, microphone, headphone and something S400). I was wondering if anyone knew which cables I need to buy, where I could buy them and would the cables that hook into the tv hook into European tvs (don't we all get our tvs from Asia?)?
Your monitor plug's official name is a "VGA" plug. Most European televisions will use RCA or SVIDEO plugs, although some very old ones will still use BNC plugs. You can see a list of all the plug types here:

I would suggest buying one of these, they're cheap but short, so you may want a longer cord too. It will give you the option of hooking up to a TV via SVIDEO or RCA:
