Canon VIXIA HV40 and Rode VideoMic?
I own a Canon VIXIA HV40, and I need a good shotgun mic. I've heard SO many good things about the Rode VideoMic, seen here:
http://usa.rodemic.com/microphone.php?product=VideoMic
Seeing as I own a VIXIA HV40 and now a higher-quality and more importantly BIGGER camera, I need to know if I'll need some kind of adapter to mount the VideoMic onto my camera. Anyone know?
Little dog, do you mean this
http://www.amazon.com/Bower-Shoe-Video-Light-Bracket/dp/B000NL5X5S/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1265736159&sr=8-1
If so, are you saying if I buy that, that's all I need to mount it?
I have also read good things about the Rode video mic...
The Canon HV40 shoe on the top of the camcorder is smaller than standard accessory shoe size. You can either buy an adapter (check bhphotovideo) or use a camera bracket. Do a search at amazon using "bower camera bracket". I like the angled unit because it provides a handle for two handed (steadier) holding and includes two standard sized accessory shoes (mic and light)
I also like (and own/use) the NRG Research SA-568 switchable shotgun mic...
