I would like to purchase a sound card for my laptop for recording purposes?
I have a Compaq Presario V600 and I am trying to record in Adobe Audition with a condenser microphone and pre amp. I usually run the pre amp to my Compaq Presario S4000NX straight into the microphone input. So any suggestions of a sound card perfectly compatible with my laptop and recording software?
Go for the line 6 ux2, which can be gotten from musiciansfriend.com for $140. This USB powered interface has 2 xlr inputs with phantom power, 2 guitar inputs and a nice bundle of plugins that should be compatible with audition.
It's DAC's (digital audio converters) should be much higher quality than those found in your laptop and give you stellar bang for the buck.
If you need more than 2 simultaneous In's, consider the behringer Xenyx mixers. (1200 series and higher) They have usb connectivity and anywhere from 4-8 channels of audio recording starting at about the $160 range.
