3.what is the form of the piece?,eg 12 bar blues,..etc
Kind of Blue is the name of the album, there is no song called 'Kind of Blue'. The album is important because it explored the concept of modal playing, that is defining harmony by a scale/mode rather than a chord progression. In essence it was a return to melody as musicians were not bound by outlining chord changes for the sake of harmony. Apart from being a break through album in jazz it was extremely popular with non jazz listeners at the time and still is to this day.
The most popular song on that album is called "So What' which is the song you might be thinking of. It's a 32 bar AABA form, the A section being in D dorian, the B section in Eb Dorian. Apart from being modal, the song is unique in that the melody is played by the bass.
