I want to record good audio, with little hardware, whats the best OS, and collection of software to use?
I will be working with a laptop and a 16 channel mixer board with a digital effects processing abilities. I can get a good collection of mics and apart from drums, I prefer to perform all the instruments live on keyboards and guitars. I'll put the mixer in the laptop via the native sound card.
So i'd like to know which OS and which software can make the best sounds out of my woefully limited hardware resources. I can't afford prof studio equip now, but I want to start learning hadns on from little stuff, and move on later. Thanks.
