Desperately seeking Northern Soul track details! Help please!?
I am a massive fan of Northern Soul and have a large collection on both vinyl and CD. Many years ago a casual acquaintance did me a compilation tape of great tracks but the tape has been missing for years. There were a couple of stand out tracks on there which I would love to get hold of again but do not have either the track name or artist, I've only got fragments of lyrics that have been floating round my head for about 20 years!
Can anyone identify either (or both) of the following tracks:
The first one had a lyric along the lines of "Hey little doll, you really move me, with your great big eyes and crazy movement" (or words to that effect). It was played a lot in mod clubs in the mid 80s and could have been a white group.
The other track was more traditional black soul, could have been a female vocalist, and contained the lyric "Love aint nothing but a monkey on my back".
Someone out there must recognise these tracks! Please help me out!
Keeping the faith.
The second I can help you with here's the link http://play.rhapsody.com/album/chesssoul/loveaintnothinbutamonkeyonyourback I'm pretty sure Johnny Nash sang it though. If I can find info on the other one I will update this. Hope it helps you for the meantime love.
Can't find the other one but found that other album on EBay. Here's the link http://cgi.ebay.com/Chess-Soul-Various-Artists-50th-Ann-NEW-2-CD-SET_W0QQitemZ290113079837QQihZ019QQcategoryZ307QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem ...............Scroll down and you'll see the list of tracks on the Album, I was right it was Johnny Nash.
