I need some new inspiration - Any good new jazz artists I should listen to?
I'm running out of fresh stuff to listen to.
Some of my favourite modern artists are Esbjörn Svensson Trio, Aaron Parks, Avishai Cohen Trio, Brad Mehldau Trio, Sangha Quartet.
Any suggestions on some other interesting artists I should check out?
I am familiar with the sound you are trying to find. I have seen Aaron Parks a few times in performance and have listened to his Invisible Cinema album a few times.
I have seen the Avishai Cohen who plays trumpet a few times also. I have not seen the Avishai Cohen who plays bass, but I have heard him on cd. I don't know which one you are refering to.
I have heard Brad Mehldau on cd, a lot.
WIth all that said, I am very sure I can recommend some albums I'm confident you will like. I listen to the these albums, often. My list is not a ggogle search.
Here are the albums I'm very confident you will like...
Kurt Rosenwinkel- Deep Song.
The piano player on this album is Brad Mehldau. Rosenwinkel and Parks have a very similar approach to writing songs. You can hear that in this video.

If you want to get more Kurt Rosenwinkel, the Heartcore album should be your next one.
John Ellis- Roots Leaves and Branches
The guitar player on Invisible Cinema is Mike Moreno. Moreno is very often the guitar player of choice when Ellis plays live. Moreno is not on this album, but all the musicians mentioned are like minded.
Have a listen.

Scott Colley- Architect of the Silent Moment.
If you liked the first two recommendations I listed, then do yourself a favor and get this album. Its is amazing, every song, every note is amazing.
Drew Gress- 7 Black Butterflies
A little more avant garde than the previous albums I have suggested, but if you like the previous albums, you will be able to appreciate this album. Some of the band is the same as the Scott Colly album.
Reid Anderson- Dirty Showtunes
This album is rooted in traditional jazz, but the musicians take it "outside". I'm confident you will like it.
That's enough to get you started. The albums I have suggested are similar to what you have asked for.
Here is a song you should hear, just in case you havn't already. It was written by Andrew Hill over 40 years ago. It sounds modern by today's standards.

PS-
Most of today's modern jazz can be heard on WKCR. They are an independent station that plays new stuff as well as early RARE vinyl records and 78's (depending on the DJ.). There is no other jazz station anyting like WKCR. Xheck their schedule because they also play other types of music, and they play that well to.

On Wed evenings, they do a "musician's show". It a program of various NYC musicans playing DJ. They bring in the music they want to share, and often tell a brief story regarding why they choose each song. You will hear lots of new and great stuff during the musician's show.
AND...
The Jazz Gallery in New York City specializes in booking the new and adventerous players on the scene (and some legends too). If you check hteir schedule page, you will find links to the musicians who are playing at the Gallery. This is the place where I have seen Aaron Parks and Avishai Cohen.
