Recording Studio, Stuck with Something, Please Help?
i am new to recording music and am about to design my studio. only i have one problem...
as i want to have a control room seperate from the live studio (so i can listen to the recording clearly), i am not sure how you get the microphone cable from the live room to the control room mixer. is there an xlr wall mount that you install in the wall that has connectors either side or something?
how do you do it? and what is the piece of equipment called? if anyone can help, thankyou so much
That is called "XLR Panel Mount Connector"
There is a female and male connector that can be wall mounted and screwed in place by a two pieces of Philips screw. If you mount only one piece, you have to bore a circular hole on the wall that will fit only the round back portion of this jack, so that its "Face Plate" will serve as a cover to the wall's hole and a two screw will fix it permanently in the wall. The "Face Plate" should be mounted inside the "Recording Live Room" wall, facing or near the "Microphone Stand" for the convenience of Plugging and unplugging the microphone.
Before you fix the "XLR Panel Mount Connector" on the wall, on its terminal found at the back, you have to connect and solder first a microphone cable with a suitable length going to your "Control Room Mixer"
Here are the sample picture of different kinds of XLR Panel Mount Connector (choose the one with a square face plate, which are designed to be mounted for "side wall" or "instrument panel" :

There are also an array of "12 XLR Panel Mount Female Connector" in one box, so you can have the option to plug 12 Microphone to connect each for a singer, choir, musical instrument and others.

Hope this will helps and good luck to you.
