Dominican Republic trip what to bring?
Looking for ideas of things to bring that may be difficult for the native people to obtain. Things to give to kids, maids, and other people we meet that are not tourists. We are going in March.
Other than that we know what to pack, are looking forward to whatever comes, be it rain, storm, power outages whatever. We have fun where ever we go. It is an adventure!!
The men love baseball caps from the states. The kids buy them candy, gum, crayons, coloring books, stickers. any thing arts and crafts, paints, play dough, drawing pencils and paper. They will appreciate any small gift, even money. The maids, besides tipping them would love t-shirts,earrings,hair things, creams, powder, lipstick, chap stick, little boxes of candy. These things are available, they just can't afford them.
I know you want to do good for these hard working people but trust me on this, money is the best gift of all.
