Northern Soul Beach
Know of any hotels overlooking the pacific ocean on the northern CA coast that are reasonably priced?

I'm thinking of taking a little weekend getaway either to marin county, sonoma county, monterey area, or as a last resort mendocino county.
Any hotels with a balcony/patio view of the ocean that won't completely break the bank?
Also- I don't want a busy beach (e.g. Santa Cruz or Stinson) time for some soul-searchin :)

You can try the Asilomar state conference center and resort in Pacific Grove. It's right on the ocean, it's relatively cheap, food service is available on site, and there are no TV's in any of the rooms, which are comfortable and clean. There are lots of trails for walking, and the facility has its own beach. Most of the buildings where people stay are usually 2 story, and a lot of the rooms have views of the ocean and balconies, if that is what you want. Asilomar is also a very quiet spot most of the time. Hope this helps.
