What is better for a mxl 990 microphone a pre amp or a usb version?
Ok so I want to buy a mxl 990 microphone for my voice over videos. I am still a noob at semi pro / pro audio and I was wondering what is the better choice? Which one would be better sound quality?
1. Buying a usb version of the mic which runs for about 150$.
or
2. Buying a xlr version which is about 80 and then buying a xlr to usb converter / preamp? 40$
If anyone can suggest a closely priced xrl to usb converter / pre amp (with phantom power), that would be nice.
For reference here are the mic I want
Usb version

XRL version

Here is the xrl to usb / preamp converter I was thinking of getting.

P.S. I am on a tight budget, saving money is a big plus.
I would get the USB version myself - it is just simpler. Keep in mind that there are great USB mics for around $100:
