Did I damage my audio card?
Hey
I have a creatice X-Fi elite pro card and today i went to connect a mic on the back of my pc...as soon as i did i heard a high frequency noise and sound went mute.as i was going to disconnect it again the pc restarted. I noticed that the pci card wasnt wasn't well to the motherboard. coz of bad pci fastening feature on my chasis.so it moved a bit while putting the jack in.
When it booted up again, sound was working.
I am worried because I bought this card for my audio studio and was expensive. Could it be that I damaged it? or its a work or dont work thing?
hello,
if you can here the sound by plug in the ear phone or speaker than there is no damage in it.
but you also need to make sure its properly inserted into the pci slot so open the cabinet and fix it first so it wont move any more.
Also you can check in device manager that is there any conflict on that device.
Path for Device manager :- Right click on My computer icon, Properties , Hardware Tab, Device Manager. Where you can see all hardware.
Thanks
