i am helping my friend restore sound to computer i can not find driver for audio or sound card?
emachines T-series T2040, windows xp professional. there is no audio driver on computer. install sound blaster live 24 bit. but no sound still. cannot locate the sound card. speakers are plug to pc. there is also no volume no sound icon on the pc
This is 7 minutes old so this may already be rendered 
Control Panel > Sounds, Speech & Audio Devices >Sounds & Audio Devices > (Volume tab) [insure Device volume is above low & check 'Place volume icon in the taskbar' & 'mute' is unchecked] > Apply
While in Sounds & Audio, be sure to look into 'Sounds' tab to verify or design the sound scheme of 'default' or make selections.
Right click taskbar icon to open volume control to insure all slide bars are above low & all mute boxes are unchecked!
