Psychedelic Rock bands ..... Who's the most Psychedelic ???
Of the following bands , who is the most Psychedelic (not necessarily the best) as #1 and until reaching #10 as the least Psychedelic , so make a list of the following and it's o.k. if you want to add some bands :
- 13th Floor Elevators
- Jefferson Airplane
- The Grateful Dead
- Quicksilver Messenger Service
- The Doors
- Big Brother & The Holding Company (Janis Joplin)
- The Jimi Hendrix Experience
- Vanilla Fudge
- Iron Butterfly
- Pink Floyd (Only Syd Barrett's work)
Pfffft hands down the Grateful Dead #1.
Syd Barret Floyd is #2 but I think their work after Syd is just as tripped out too.
Phish #3. If you disagree with me that's fine. Just understand that we're going the same direction, only on different levels.
Jimi Hendrix #4. This needs no explanation.
The Doors #5. Ray's keyboards and Jim's lyrical prowess make it psychedelic, otherwise you're left with a blues guitarist (Robbie) and a lounge singer (Jim). Don't get me wrong I like the Doors but ya know, c'mon.
Quicksilver Messenger Service #6. John Cippolina jammed super, super hard and always tried to push it to that next level. Very psychedelic.
Iron Butterfly #7 just on the strength of In The Garden of Eden (in a godda da vida) alone, sure.
The rest on the list all tie because they're either too "60's psych-pop" for my taste or I consider them blues bands (Janis). But cool quesion you get a star!
