What and where are the good place in Detroit to visit for music lovers?
I'm from Japan and will visit Detroit next month. (August 13th-16th)I really love Detroit sounds like SV,Jay Dilla,BlackMilk,Andres,UR,Moodyman and Theo Parrish.
Please let me know any great spots in Detroit for music lovers like me.
I already checked 'Motown Museum','5 elements gallery' and the record stores 'Vibes New & Rare Music' and 'People's Records & Collectibles' on internet.
Any information will be deeply appreciated.
I would like to visit Detroit because Detroit is the birthplace of one and only Detroit original sound like Detroit HIPHOP and Detroit Techno.
I want to feel the atomosphere and vibes of Detroit. I want to see DJs,Mcs,other musicians if possible.
first of all, the state theater and the opera house are not what you're looking for. check out 1440 studio for detroit blues and hip hop. try the magic stick or small's for good old detroit rock and punk, although the stick has gotten pretty played out in the last few years. any of the clubs on woodward downtown would be great for detroit techno and the people watching would be top notch. your best bet is to grab a copy of the metro times as soon as you land in detroit. it has a comprehensive list of any and all events in detroit, from the smallest 50 capacity shows to arena events. they probably have a website too. plus the mag is free! good luck. detroit's a fun city for music lovers.
