Can someone translate to modern english, The raven.?
Much i marvelled this ungainly fowl to hear discourse so plainly,
Though its answer little meaning- little revelancy bore
For we cannot help agreeing that no living human being
ever yet was blessed with seeing bird about his chamber door -
Bird or beast upon the sculptured bust above his chamber door,
With such name as nevermore
Prophet! and i thing of evil! prophet still, if bird or devil!
by that heaven that bends above us - by the God we both adore -
Tell his soul with sorrow laden if, withing the distant Aidenn,
It shall clasp a sainted maiden whom the angels name lenore.
Clasp a rare and radiant maiden whom the angels name lenore.
quote the raven, nevermore
ahha sure. what ever i can understand.
I was amazed to hear this clumsy bird speaking so easily, though its answer didn't make much sense, because we have to agree that no living human being has ever seen a bird or beast at the door of his room, sitting on the bust sculpture above the door, with such a name like "Nevermore" .
You prophet, I said, either you're a bird or the devil, you're still a prophet, so for the heaven's sake that is above us, for God's sake we both adore, please tell me that in the distant Eden will I meet again and hug this sainted, rare and radiant maiden, whom the angels call Lenore?
The raven said, "Never more."
Something like this.
