Have you heard of Joe PAUL Nichols from Jacksboro Texas?
Have you heard of Joe Paul Nichols from Jacksboro, Texas? No, he's not the young guy Joe Nichols. Joe Paul has been doing that Texas Swing for many, many years. I first heard him playing at the after-the-rodeo dances in north central Texas way back in the 60's. Maybe he's too much of a local star but he sure does a good job on San Antonio Rose.
Joe Paul has recorded 42 singles and 21 albums. Some of his best single records have been, "These Little Things", "Hello Trouble", "Texas Memory", and "Letters Have No Arms" . His gospel albums are, "The Old Country Church", "In The Garden", "Sing, Sing, Sing", "Route 3 Gloryland", "How Big Is God", and his latest one "A Hill Called Calvary". Some of Joe Paul's best country albums are "These Old Eyes Have Seen It All", "Swing Me A Song", "The Way It Was", and "The Best of Joe Paul Nichols, #20". The album, "Swing Me A Song", recorded in Nashville, was released June 11, 1999. It includes six new songs and six country classics, and one country gospel song. The country gospel song, "Jesus Is The Same In California", was Number One in November, 1999, on the Country Gospel Music Guild Top 80 in the U.S. Gospel News. Joe Paul has recorded a 48 minute country/gospel video. Joe Paul has been fortunate enough to record a Country Christmas Album, "It's Christmas Time". Joe Paul's recordings are sold in Fort Worth, TX. at the Ernest Tubb Record Shop.
I have never heard of him till now. I was listening to some of his stuff and it sounds real good. Their are a lot of great musicians that are from the lonestar state that never get the respect they deserve and it sounds like country music is missing out on this one also. Thanks for bringing his name up on here. I look forward to ordering some of his cd's.
