Very Questionable Law?
I'm currently going to school at a college in Wisconsin. In the last year they made a "law" stating that you have to pay $50 for a moped parking pass each year. You also can't park on the sidewalk or bike racks. Even though the WI DOT states: "Mopeds may park is spaces designated for other motor vehicles, in bicycle racks or on sidewalks, unless otherwise prohibited. But avoid riding on sidewalks or interfering with pedestrians." (http://www.dot.state.wi.us/safety/vehicle/motorcycle/mopeds.htm) I need help is it illegal for the school and the campus police to do this? The have designated moped parking but you need to pay the $50. I know the law says unless prohibited, but I don't think they are trying to say prohibitted in case you have to buy a parking pass. It sounds like a money making scam. Thanks for your help.
You have to pay $50 for a MOPED parking pass...thats what I'm complaining about
Regardless if how retarded it may be, you are parking on private property. All the other cars have to purchase parking passes, and so should you. They have a designated area so that your moped doesn't take up a whole parking space that could be used by a full sized vehicle. And typically these spots are closer anyway- so what are you complaining about?
Money making scam or not- you have to obey their rules if you want to park on their property. If you don't want to park on their property, then don't buy the pass.
