How to wire a speaker cabinet?
I have two 8 ohm speakers (1 midrange, 1 bass) to run with an 40W amplifier I built myself. I understand that connecting them in parallel makes the overall resistance 4 ohm, which seems to overload the amp.
Since I'm permanently wiring them together, I'd like to make sure the way I wire them is correct. Should they be in series? Is there a way to wire them together in series without making each speaker less loud? Thanks in advance.
You need to connect the speakers to a crossover network, which, in turn, connects to the amplifier.
