Alto Saxophone : Improvisation?
i have a question: im not gonna ask," how do you improvise?" but how do people do it??? they say play the scale, but when i do it, it sounds funny ???
im currently listening/ imitating Charlie Parker and Stan Getz
Well you definitely don't wanna start out comparing yourself to charlie parker and stan getz because it will probably result in suicide because of extreme frustration. Improvising is hard and takes allot of practice. Start by finding some tracks made for being played over (they do make them) then find out what key it's in and just screw around. Find some different licks you feel comfortable with build upon them. But most importantly just go for it. your not going to get really good for a long time. no one does. so play around with it. the more mistakes you make the more you learn
