A question of light part two..?
Now let assume there are three objects
earth and 2 stars
the 2 stars are 10 light years away
and the 2 stars are 10 light years apart
if you on earth shines a laser at star 1 and move the laser quickly across to star 2 while the laser is still on
will the same information on the front of the laser reach the 2 stars at the same time.(allowing for a couple of seconds on your part)
and what will be the speed of the beam be between the 2 stars in otherwords the beam is moving from star 1 to star 2 how long will it take and what will be the difference in the informatin part of the beam
and will the light beam curve as you run it through star 1 to star 2..?
No satisfactory answer as yet...
Ok, here's the deal.
The arc of the beam isn't some physical thing. There is a similar question about if you had scissors 1,000 miles long, could the closing point move faster than light. The problem is that there is no "thing" there, it justs looks like it to us.
Imagine you had an arc of lights that covered both stars, and u turned it on. The "arc" connecting both stars would be all the way across both stars simultaneously. If you do as you described, the arc would cover one star to the other almost instantaneously, but all photons would be moving at the speed of light. We have no porblem seeing the arc appear all at once, that doesn't mean some information passed from one star to the other instantanesouly.
Same goes for your example. But excellent question!!
