Technics speaker system problems?
i bought a set of technics speakers from my aunt for cheap compared to their original price. she told me that the last time they used them they worked fine. i believe they are kind of old based on how big they are. with the set i got:
Stereo graphic equalizer SH-8017
stereo synthesizer tuner ST-K55
Stereo integrated amplifier SU-G95
compact disc changer SL-PD665
2 model SB-A55 3 way speakers
every time i connect the amplifier to the speakers it reads OVERLOAD.
if i just turn on the amplifier without being connected to the speakers it looks like they work fine.
i talked to an electronics repair man but he charges a lot to repair speakers and speaker systems.
are there any ideas of what i should do?
Man the K55 are like 1980s. Well made though.
Overload - most likely a shortage. You can find this out by getting a electric meter that measure the resistance.
You can also rule out the problem of the amp by connecting to any working speaker rated 8 ohm. If it doesn't say overload most likely the speakers have problems most likely short.
Everyone is getting rid of the large speakers so it's very easy to pick up used ones for cheap yard/moving sales or craigslist.
Not worth fixing any.
