Why are MOTU interfaces better?
I have been using pro tools with the mbox 2 for a couple years and have not been real happy with the sound card in it.
I hear a lot about how MOTU's firewire interfaces have incredible clarity and that they build them to the same specs as Pro Tools HD equipment.
Does anyone one have more technical information regarding the MOTU stuff and just how its different and maybe better for processing audio.
The MOTU firewire interface may have better mic pre-amps than the Mbox 2 - and that may be the main difference you're hearing. As far as performance goes, there shouldn't be a real difference. (Your computer is the primary source) so the same specs as HD equipment isn't exactly true.
You should ask some of the audio geeks at http://www.audioneeds.com if you want more technical information. it's a free community full of sound engineers that sit around all day and answer questions. Check it out. Hope it helps
