Do I need a TV engineer to set up a Humax Foxsat-HDR box?
I have Freesat set up to 4 rooms,Freesat boxes in 3 of them and using my Sky box as a Freesat receiver in the 4th room( I no longer have Sky). I want to replace the old Sky box with a Humax FOXSAT-HDR Freesat+ 320GB HD Digital TV Twin Tuner HD Recorder,is it easy to do or should I get a pro. in to do it? I'm not in the least bit technical !
Given that all the cables are in place, then it should be a simple case of 'plug in and play' and there'd be no need to go to the expense of calling in an engineer - just unplug your old sky box, plug the same cables into the new Foxsat, and away you go.
But ... Please note, that if you want to take advantage of the twin tuners in the FOXSAT-HDR - to allow you to be able to record one channel whilst you watch another, then you will need two input cables into the FOXSAT from your satellite. If you are happy to only record the channel you are watching then you only need one input from the satellite dish.
From your description of your set-up I'm guessing that you have a quad LNB on your satellite dish (this is common) which means that you have 4 outputs from your satellite dish, and you are using all 4. You can't just split these feeds, so calling in an engineer would be no help. To record & watch different channels at the same time on the Foxsat, you'd need to lose one of the Freesat boxes in another room.
There is a work around using the FOXSAT where you can watch some channels and record some different channels with only one input - you can find details of how to do it (its pretty simple) here:

Before calling in an engineer, have a really good think about what you want - essentially you can run 4 devices, but if the FOXSAT HDR counts as 2 if you want to record & watch different programmes at the same time.
p.s. - The Foxsat HDR is a good piece of kit!
