Real digital camera resolution? Foveon x3.?
Hi. I was told that if I reduce the resolution of my digital camera to one third of the maximum resolution there would be no need for Bayer interpolation ,since about a third of digital camera's photosensers are sensitive to all three colors, and hence I would get more color accurate and sharper picture. Is that true? Wouldn't that have the same effect as having a foveon x3 sensor? Thanks.
Good gosh almighty who told you that line of nonsense?
How may pros who are paid big bucks for first class output purposely set their high megapixel cameras to much lower resolution settings? NONE. Why would anyone buy a high megapixel camera only to cripple it with a much lower resolution setting? If what you say is a reasonable assumption, do you not think it would be a widely known and used technique?
Sorry, forget that idea.
And by the way, the Foveon sensor has never met with great acclaim in testing, .... nothing really superior to it over a "normal" sensor.
