how can i view red blood cells under my microscope?
so my microscope is 40x-1200x and a light microscope. i want to look at red blood cells with it. how can i do this? i tried, but..yeah. i'm not very experienced with a microscope. =]
You need to prepare a blood smear.
1.) Obtain 2 slides
2.) Obtain sample (pricking your index finger works best)
3.) Place a drop of blood on the end of the slide (about .5 in from the edge)
4.) Hold slide 2 at an angle to slide 1 (30-40 degrees) It should touch the drop of blood
5.) Slide it to the end of slide one (you are basically squeegieing (sp?!?) the blood across the surface of slide one)
6.) Allow blood to dry
*You can look now, but for optimum results you need to stain the slide with Wright's stain (I don't know if you have this at your dispense.)
To stain basically flood the dried slide with Wright's, counting the drops. Let stand for 3 or 4 minutes and flood with equal amt. of drops of distilled water. Let stand. A green material will form on the surface. Rinse let dry and view.
