what is the best kind of microphone for live guitar amplification.?
i used to have an audix i5 and a few mics for vocals. i dont want to use the mics i use for vocals on my amp cus it seems strange to me. what happened to the i5 was that my dad donated them to a church in the dominican republic so that they could have one ( even though they dont have a PA system, the church is tiny and they dont have speakers) so they just have my mic laying around there. now i need to get a new one. im wondering if theres another mic as good as the i5 thats not a sure mic ( those suck ). also price is a factor here. something around the 100 dollar range. should i just get the audix i5 again
The Audix i5 is a great mic for gtr cabs. The Shure sm57 is standard of the industry in studios & on-stage and definitely does not suck. The Sennheiser 609 is excellent and in yr price range and can be draped over the amp (no stand needed). If you really want to hear every nuance of your amp/spkr try a cheap (MXL or Studio Projects) large diaphragm condenser.
