anyone with knowledge of old 78rpm records?
I have several , with vocalion and vogue lables dated 1921 in good condition one has full face colored pictures others recorded on one side only. hope someone can educate me on the subject thanks
They're just records, just like 33.3 rpm vinyls except they were played at 78rpms. In the early 1900s, records were cut right into the vinyl live, and played on Victrola which played at 78rpms. They could vary the speed slightly but that was really the only speed of early record players. Those recordings can probably still be played on modern turntables if you find one that will play at that speed. I have a Victrola from 1925, that still works. No electricity, just a crank handle>
