What does this bible verse mean?
In this bible verse Rev 20:13-15 "And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works. And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.", ok, so I thought that according to christianity it's not your works that give you salvation, but how come in here it sounds like good works is what you need?
God will judge men according to their works, but your name is written in the Book of Life when you put your faith in Jesus Christ.
"Truly, truly, I (Jesus) say to you, he who hears My word, and believes Him who sent Me, has eternal life, and does not come into judgment, but has passed out of death into life. "
John 5:24
Every Christian will be judged for his works, but it will not result in eternal damnation.........
"So we make it our goal to please him, whether we are at home in the body or away from it. For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each of us may receive what is due us for the things done while in the body, whether good or bad. "
II Corinthians 5:9-10
