Where can I find a handheld, wireless microphone for my camcorder? (and what might be a good one?)?
I have a sony handycam camcorder with a microphone jack and have been searching for a handheld, wireless microphone to use. I am looking for something similar to what news reporters use. I want to be able to use it for interviewing people and might also try and use it as a boom microphone for better audio for all my videos. Putting a build-in microphone onto of a camcorder it such a stupid idea.
One issue with finding a suitable system is that most handheld wireless systems have AC-powered receivers, so you can't use those if you want to walk around with your camcorder (you need the receiver to be battery-powered).
There are a lot more lapel mic wireless systems for camcorders than handheld ones. I'm not sure why.
Here's an entry-level pro quality one (it's $162.95 with free shipping):

For price alone, consider this one (it's hard to find on the page -- you want the order number 2060 set, which is a handheld transmitter with a battery-operated receiver -- $79.95 + $6.95 shipping = $86.90):
