SAMSON c01 condenser mic (*NOT the c01U*)?
i have a SAMSON c01 condenser mic and i have no idea how to plug it in... i have been told that i needed a phantom power supply (first question... do i need a 48v or a 12v phantom power supply?) and i have been also told that i need a XLR cable that connects the mic to the phantom power supply.. BUT HOW DO I CONNECT THE PHANTOM POWER SUPPLY TO MY COMPUTER??? should i buy an XLR male to USB?
Pretty much every modern phantom power supply is 48v. While most mics don't require anywhere near this much, it is kind of an overarching number that will cover every microphone. Most often, microphones are connected to computers via an audio interface. Audio interfaces do several things: provide gain so you can hear your microphone, provide phantom power for condensers, and provide A/D-D/A converters to convert your analog signal that you can hear to a digital one that your computer can read and back again. I would strongly suggest you avoid connecting your microphone to your computer via USB.
