What equipment do I need to record vocals for home studio?
I am trying to start a small, inexpensive studio to record vocals only. I just purchased an Audio Technica AT2020 microphone with XLR output and AKG K240 Monitor headphones. Now I need a way to connect the microphone to my computer and be able to monitor it with the headphones (which do not plug into my computer because the plug is 1/4). What equipment do I need? Do I need a mixer, or should I just go for a microphone preamp? Whatever the case, I need it to plug into my computer via USB, and have some way for me to plug my headphones in as well, and I need it to be inexpensive but decent quality. Any help would be great, thanks in advance!
You need a USB interface with phantom power - that is all you need - you do not need a separate preamp.
